SUMMARY:Blue Moon Trail

Below is a “Stroller’s Map” that was sold for a quarter at the “Trading Post” at the Rez from the 1950s through the 1970s. The map shows landmarks and trails that were known at the time. You’ll recognize a lot of these but some are unfamiliar. Let’s explore a little. I’ve found some of these old trails though you might call them enthusiastic bushwhacks today. I’ve found the Waterfall and Lemon Squeezer but I’m curious about the “caves” on Joe’s hill and the trails leading to Honey Hollow and Bostock Hill. Let’s do some exploring. It is a great mix of fire road\, single track\, flats\, hills\, and one fast downhill section right towards the end. Park at the Ridgebury School\, Ridgefield\, CT and walk over the Serfilippi Field\, ready to run at 8:00 a.m. Registration for the virtual race is not required but consider it anyway. Looking for a longer run? Make it a double. Continue on the trail instead of heading to the finish and make a second loop for a 7+ mile run. Those looking to start early can arrive at 6:00 a.m. with their headlamps and test the trail in the dark or arrive at 7:00 a.m. for an additional loop. DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, September 6\, at 5:00 a.m.\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Michigan Road Lot\, ready to run the first ever Pound Ridge 50k. Runners will make four loops—a 12 mile perimeter loop starting at 5:00\, an 8 1/2 mile loop starting at 8:00\, and two 5 1/2 mile loops of the Red trail. You’ll be returning to your cars between loops which will be your aid stations—bring what you need to complete the run since this is a self-supported 50k. Not up for the full distance\, arrive at 8:00 a.m. and complete the 8 1/2 mile loop and continue as far as you want. There’s no t-shirt\, no swag\, but no cost for this do-it-yourself ultra.
