SUMMARY:Michigan 4x8 Challenge
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, August 28\, at 8:00 a.m.\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Michigan Road Lot\, ready to run the Michigan 4×8 Challenge. The entire Challenge starts at 5:00 a.m. but you can start whenever you want\, including 8:00 a.m. This course consists of a series of 4-mile (approximate) clockwise loops in the Rez that can be completed within an hour. At 5:00 a.m.\, we’ll start with the magenta loop\, then work our way in a clockwise pattern hitting the purple and then green loops. At 8:00\, we’ll start with yellow\, then blue\, orange and so on\, using our cars as aid stations between loops. Total distance would be just over 50k but you can stop whenever you want. This is the last weekend before the close of the Run Like a Wolf challenge so it’s a great opportunity to get those miles logged. Cobweb Crew starts at 5:00; Early Risers at 7:00. \nRookie Runners start at 7:00 for a shorter distance and easier pace. \n\nPrint Map

SUMMARY:Catskill Fire Tower Run
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, July 23\, at 7:00 a.m.\, meet at Becker Hollow Parking Lot\, 4120 NY-214\, Elka Park\, NY (Google map ››) when we run the Catskills Fire Tower Challenge. We’re going to start at the Hunter Mountain trailhead and hit Tremper\, and Overlook. Anyone who wants to hit all five can continue to Red Hill and Balsam\, but considering the temperature\, I’m going to suggest we leave those until September. I’ve left Upper Esopus off the list which is at the Catskills Visitor Center\, not actually on a mountain. The course I’ve laid out gets us to the three towers that are closest together so\, after we finish with Overlook\, we can visit the Phoenicia Diner. Make sure you bring plenty of water on this run. \nIf you want to share a ride\, meet at the Woods Bridge MTA Commuter Parking Lot in Katonah before 5:00. We’ll be leaving promptly at 5:00.

SUMMARY:A Mild Sprain
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, June 5\, at 9:45 a.m.\, don’t miss out on the annual “A Mild Sprain” Trail Run (5 mile run/3 mile walk/hike) on Sunday\, June 5\, 2022\, at Sprain Ridge Park\, Hastings-on-Hudson\, NY. “A Mild Sprain” is one of Westchester’s largest grassroots fundraisers. Over the past 9 years\, the event has raised more than $880\,000 to help fund research that supports JDRF’s mission\, to cure\, treat and prevent Type 1 diabetes (T1D). The event draws people from the tri-state area bringing participants together for a worthy cause! \nThis is your moment to fundraise and help turn type one into type none! Know that every step\, every participant\, and every dollar brings us closer to our finish line—a world without T1D. All net proceeds go to JDRF whose mission is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications through the support of research. \nRegister ›› \nNot racing? Then on Sunday at 8:00 a.m.\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Meadow Lot\, and run the Meadow Northern Loop. Options include 5.5\, 6.5\, and 8-mile loops. Cobweb Crew starts at 5:00 a.m.; Early Risers at 7:00. Since the Mild Sprain doesn’t start until 9:45\, you can get a warmup in early then drive to the race. What could be better than that?

SUMMARY:REDRUN
DESCRIPTION:On Memorial Day\, Monday\, May 30\, at 7:00 a.m.\, meet at Michigan Road Lot to test yourself and find out who’s going to get the crown on one counterclockwise loop of Red. It’s simple. 5.32 miles. The current course records are 36:09 for Chris Irwin and 41:50 for Julie Piddington although the competition for the leaderboards is fierce. No cost to enter. No flags on the course. No prize money. Just bragging rights if you’re able to take the crown.\n \nWhile there will be bragging rights for who finishes first on the day\, the real test is who claims the top of the Leaderboard so watch Strava afterward as runners post their runs. The official loop starts and ends past the gate (see the segment) but depending on how many are running\, you’ll be starting on the asphalt. \nSee the segment map and leaderboard ›› \nAlternatively\, if you’re not interested in racing\, we could run a course that will take us to Raven Rocks and then the “secret overlook” which has the best view of the morning sun. No prizes for that either\, just some nice views.
