At a 10% average incline\, the FH to Lean-to 7 segment (Happy Ending on Strava—don’t ask!) is less steep than Blue but also less technical. Considering all of the leaves right now\, you’ll get a good working but are less inclined to turn an ankle.

The entire Challenge starts at 6:00 a.m. but you can start whenever you want\, including 7:00 a.m.\, and run as far as you’d like. This course consists of a series of 4-mile (approximate) clockwise loops in the Rez that can be completed within an hour. At 6:00 a.m.\, we’ll start with the green loop\, then work our way in a clockwise pattern hitting the yellow and then blue loops next. DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, December 22\, at 8:00 a.m.\, get ready to run a very special course—The Dancing Rock Run. This course revives a race created by Tony Godino and Dave Cope around the time the Loop was invented over 30 years ago. Originally\, racers would complete one clockwise loop followed by a counterclockwise loop for a total distance of 25k. No one really knows why the race never caught on but it’s an awesome course. Start at 8:00 a.m. and complete one 12.5k loop (the 8 mile orange loop in the map) or make it a double for a 25k run. Note: the trail near Michigan Road (often called the “Swamp Trail”) is passable. You might get your shoes wet and muddy\, but considering how cold it will be\, it’s likely to be frozen solid.  \n\nRookie Runners start at 7:00 for a shorter course and an easier pace. DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, December 22\, at 5:00 a.m.\, get ready to run a very special course—The Dancing Rock Run and Dancing Rock 50k. This course revives a race created by Tony Godino and Dave Cope around the time the Loop was invented but adds a whole lot more. 50k runners will first complete a perimeter loop\, then run the Dancing Rock 12.5k forwards\, then backward\, and follow up with the marked loop of Green+. The 12.5k “classic” starts at 8:00 and makes one loop of the course. Or make it a double for a 25k run. classic Dancing Rock Run 7.8 miler. \nStage 1: Perimeter Loop Starts Promptly at 5:00 a.m. \nComplete perimeter loop as shown on the map\, approximately 12 miles\, and return to your vehicle which will serve as your aid station. You do not need to wait for the main group—continue onto stage 2 when you’re ready. Everyone is responsible for their own aid at their vehicles. Note that the perimeter loop will be counterclockwise this year. \nStage 2: Start the Dancing Rock 12.5k course clockwise.\nRun the Dancing Rock 12.5k Course. Legacy GPX and Legacy KML files for this section are posted to help you navigate. I will drop a book at Dancing Rock on the morning of the run. At a 10% average incline\, the FH to Lean-to 7 segment (Happy Ending on Strava—don’t ask!) is less steep than Blue but also less technical. Considering all of the leaves right now\, you’ll get a good working but are less inclined to turn an ankle.
