DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, March 17\, at 8:00 a.m.\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Michigan Road Lot\, ready to run the Michigan 4×8 Challenge. The entire Challenge starts at 5:00 a.m. but you can start whenever you want\, including 8:00 a.m. This course consists of a series of 4-mile (approximate) clockwise loops in the Rez that can be completed within an hour. At 5:00 a.m.\, we’ll start with the magenta loop\, then work our way in a clockwise pattern hitting the purple and then green loops. At 8:00\, we’ll start with yellow\, then blue\, orange and so on\, using our cars as aid stations between loops. Total distance would be just over 50k but you can stop whenever you want. Course should be around 8 miles but if you’re looking for a longer run\, you can extend the course in Meyer or head over for a perimeter loop of Westmoreland and turn this into a half marathon. DESCRIPTION:On Memorial Day\, Monday\, May 27\, at 7:00 a.m.\, meet at Michigan Road Lot to test yourself and find out who’s going to get the crown on one counterclockwise loop of Red. It’s simple. 5.32 miles. The current course records are 36:09 for Chris Irwin and 41:50 for Julie Grant although the competition for the leaderboards is fierce. No cost to enter. No flags on the course. No prize money. Just bragging rights if you’re able to take the crown.\n \nWhile there will be bragging rights for who finishes first on the day\, the real test is who claims the top of the Leaderboard so watch Strava afterward as runners post their runs. The official loop starts and ends past the gate (see the segment) but depending on how many are running\, you’ll be starting on the asphalt. \nSee the segment map and leaderboard ›› \nAlternatively\, if you’re not interested in racing\, we could run a course and enjoy the view of the morning sun. No prizes for that either\, just some nice views.
