SUMMARY:McArthur Multipark Marathon
DESCRIPTION:On July 4\, join us for a special event—the McArthur Multipark Marathon. This course starts at Kimberly Bridge and makes a perimeter loop of the Rez\, exiting at Lewisboro Town Park. From there\, runers sprint across Route 35 to Old Field Preserve then take a combination of roads to Mountain Lakes Park. You’ll make a loop there then head back past Lake Truesdale to the eastern edge of the Rez to Kimberly Bridge. You’ll have options for starting locations and times: \n7:00 a.m. start from Kimberly Bridge: Full Marathon\n7:00 a.m. start from Kimberly Bridge: Half Marathon Perimeter Loop\n7:00 a.m. from 35 Old Pond Road\, South Salem\, NY: Chase pack with faster runners leaves to catch the main pack. Good luck guys.\n8:00 a.m. from Kimberly Bridge: Chase pack arrives at Kimberly Bridge to pick up an additional runners\n10:00 a.m. from MLP Lookout Point: Run 6 miles in Mountain Lakes Park\n\nThere will be aid stations at the McArthurs and Cummings at miles 12\, 18\, and 21. Water will be available. Restrooms are available at Mountain Lakes and at the Truesdale beach\, miles 15\, 17\, and 21. The three-page map is below and available as a PDF. DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, July 5\, at 8:00 a.m.\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Meadow Lot\, when we run the Meadow Museum\, Fire Tower to Michigan loop. We’ll run this in a clockwise direction as marked and runners have the opportunity to run distances from 5 to 8.5 miles. Since a number of you will be running a Marathon on Saturday\, the earliest run on Sunday will be 7:00 with the Rookies. SUMMARY:Slide Mountain (Burroughs Range) Loop
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, July 11\, meet for a special run in the Catskills—the Slide Mountain/Burroughs Range Loop. This 14.5 mile loop offers 5\,000 feet of elevation gain and crosses Slide Mountain (the highest peak in the Catskill range)\, Cornell\, and Whittenberg. Meet at the Woods Bridge commuter lot in Katonah at 5:30 a.m. if you’d like to caravan for the 2-hour drive to the start or you can meet at the Slide Mountain West Trail Head\, 2027 Oliverea Rd\, Phoenicia\, NY 12464 (see Google Maps ››). We will make a counterclockwise loop starting shortly after 7:30 a.m. and finishing in the afternoon. You can see the course map here\, complete with .gpx and .kml files. Bring plenty of water\, a filter if you have one\, and a change of clothes so we can stop at the Phoenician Diner afterwards and eat all the foods. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, July 18\, at 7:00 a.m.\, meet at Bennett’s Pond parking lot ready to run the 7-mile Overlook Loop. The most overgrown part of the trail has been recently trimmed so we should be OK to follow the map as is. If you’re looking for a longer run\, you can continue on the yellow trail into Hemlock Hills for over 10 miles. No pressure but maybe we’ll get Keith Realander out on this one. DESCRIPTION:This Saturday\, July 25\, at 7:00 a.m.\, meet at the Grant Avenue entrance to Sylvan Glen\, ready to run a loop around the park and head over to Granite Knolls. From there we can retrace our steps for a 6 mile run or follow a perimeter course around Granite Knolls for a little extra distance. Either way\, anyone who wants to challenge themselves to scale the rock at Granite Knolls is welcome to give it a try. If you don’t know what that means\, join us. \n\nPrint Map Download the PDF\n \nIf you want to continue your run\, you can follow the perimeter of Granite Knolls and cross a bridge over the Taconic State Parkway into Woodlands Legacy Fields Park and add an extra 2.5 miles of the perimeter loop there. Park at the lot at across from 2857 Grant Avenue\, Mohegan Lake\, NY\, on the western entrance to the park.
