Add hill repeats and speed work on Wednesdays at 5:30 a.m. This week\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Kimberly Bridge Lot\, at 5:30 a.m.\, for 90 minutes of Hill Repeats\, Strides\, or a mix of both. At a 13% average incline\, the Blue Hill segment is one of the steepest in the Rez and the perfect training ground for any upcoming race. The .6 mile uphill contains just over 400 feet of vertical gain while the downhill is a great quad-shredding exercise. If you need to train with poles\, this is a good course to do so. We’ve been focusing on blue repeats for a while but I’ve seen you folks become absolute beasts (looking at you\, Kim) so let’s continue.

Starting at 5:00 a.m.\, make one 7.5 mile loop and a second starting at 7:00 a.m. Join in for one or both loops or finish a third loop and enter the Blue-Per hall of fame. SUMMARY:Sarah Bishop Course
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, August 12\, at 7:00 a.m.\, meet at Mountain Lakes Park\, Hemlock Lake Beach Parking Lot\, when we run a variation of the Sarah Bishop course that meanders through much of the park. This version takes a turn that we haven’t used since the early days of the race but keeps the best parts overall. Options include extending the run through Old Sib\, Hearst\, and Mead-Halmi preserves in case you’re looking for a longer distance. SUMMARY:Meadow 4x8 Challenge
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, August 20\, at 8:00 a.m.\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Meadow Lot\, ready to run the Meadow 4×8 Challenge. The entire Challenge starts at 5:00 a.m. but you can start whenever you want\, including 8:00 a.m. This course consists of a series of 4-mile (approximate) clockwise loops in the Rez that can be completed within an hour. At 5:00 a.m.\, start with the orange loop\, then work our way in a clockwise pattern hitting the green and then yellow loops. At 7:00\, it’s time for the blue loop. At 8:00\, start with magenta for a 4-mile run then gray for 8 miles. Feel free to improvise and combine magenta and gray into a longer loop. Total distance for all loops would be just over 50k but you can stop whenever you want. Cobweb Crew starts at 5:00; Early Risers at 7:00. \n I’ll be out this weekend and I know a number of you are running Fahnestock so attendance may be lighter than usual.
