SUMMARY:Meadow 4x8 Challenge
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, August 20\, at 8:00 a.m.\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Meadow Lot\, ready to run the Meadow 4×8 Challenge. The entire Challenge starts at 5:00 a.m. but you can start whenever you want\, including 8:00 a.m. This course consists of a series of 4-mile (approximate) clockwise loops in the Rez that can be completed within an hour. At 5:00 a.m.\, start with the orange loop\, then work our way in a clockwise pattern hitting the green and then yellow loops. At 7:00\, it’s time for the blue loop. At 8:00\, start with magenta for a 4-mile run then gray for 8 miles. Feel free to improvise and combine magenta and gray into a longer loop. Total distance for all loops would be just over 50k but you can stop whenever you want. Cobweb Crew starts at 5:00; Early Risers at 7:00. \n I’ll be out this weekend and I know a number of you are running Fahnestock so attendance may be lighter than usual. DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, May 21\, at 8:00 a.m.\, meet at the Ward Pound Ridge Meadow Lot when we run the Meadow to Green Loop. This course heads to the Trailside Museum before circling around to Michigan Road. From there\, take the Green trail to some of the smaller\, lesser-used white trails in the Southern portion of the park. Toward the end of the run\, I have the trail marked to cross Michigan Road and the field to catch the CB trail and return via FH to the Meadow but you’ll likely want to continue on Schoolhouse Road past the park office and finish through the field. Add hill repeats and speed work on Wednesdays at 5:30 a.m. This week\, meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, Meadow Lot\, at 5:30 a.m.\, for 90 minutes of Hill Repeats. Warm up by heading up the Howland Drive segment (intersection 46 to 44) then make our repeats starting at the upper Howland hill\, down Fun Climb\, then back. Each repeat is .7 miles with 300 feet of gain and an average slope of 13%. We’ll aim for four repeats then loop down through the pine forest on the fifth one. Total distance should be around 5.6 miles.
