On Saturday, September 9, at 7:00 a.m., meet at the Mt. Beacon Wolcott Avenunue lot, ready to run to the Beacon fire tower and back. The course is a 4-mile out-and-back with a vertical climb of 1,500 feet. While similar in incline to Blue, the two-mile uphill is a good test of endurance. Those who want to continue can do a second climb or more. Then head into Beacon for a cup of coffee and some food afterward. Early risers meet at 5:30 for a 5:40 a.m. start. While we will start by headlamp, we should get to the top of the fire tower at sunrise and be back in the lot by 7:00.

Don’t have the time for Beacon? No worries. Meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Michigan Road Lot, at 7:00 a.m. and run the Michigan to Spy Rock “Stairmaster.” Multiple distances are available and everyone loves going up all the stairs. But bring your own maps—I’ll be at Beacon.
