On Sunday, December 17, at 8:00 a.m., get ready to run a very special course—The Dancing Rock Run. This course revives a race created by Tony Godino and Dave Cope around the time the Loop was invented over 30 years ago. Originally, racers would complete one clockwise loop followed by a counterclockwise loop for a total distance of 25k. No one really knows why the race never caught on but it’s an awesome course with lots of bushwhacks. Start at 8:00 a.m. and complete one 12.5k loop or make it a double for a 25k run. Note: the trail near Michigan Road (often called the “Swamp Trail”) is passable. You’ll get your shoes wet and muddy, but that trail earns its name.
