Sunday: Meadow Lot
On Sunday, August 25, at 8:00 a.m., meet at Ward Pound Ridge Meadow Lot and come ready to run the Raven Rocks Course. We’re set to kick off the fall race season and continue the Trail Mix Series races—Where the Pavement Ends, Sarah Bishop Bushwhack, Run the Farm, and Raven Rocks Run. Register for these upcoming races soon so you’re not closed out of the shirt order. Those wanting to start early can arrive at 5:00 a.m. for an eight-mile loop or 7:00 a.m. for a four-mile loop (no 4:00 a.m. this week so you can sleep in).
Saturday: Sleeping Giant State Park
This Saturday, August 24, at 8:00 a.m., meet at Sleeping Giant State Park, 200 Mt Carmel Ave, Hamden, CT 06518, for up to 10 miles of hills, trails, rocks, and one very cool castle. If you want to ride share, meet at Lewisboro Town Park lower lot at 7:00 a.m. Bring a change of clothes and some cash since with all that running, you’ll work up an appetite. Head over to Pepe’s Pizza afterwards, home of what is arguably the best pizza in the country. Download a PDF ›› (the map, not the pizza).
Hope to see you out there this weekend.

Contribute to a Tribute to Mark Vincent
I know many of us have been trying to find ways to support Mary, Sean, and Ryan in this difficult time. Mary Vincent asked if we would collect and organize from Mark’s running friends a story or favorite memory for her and the boys. She wrote, “I thought it would be nice for us to know how others loved Mark.” As far as what to write: funny, silly, touching—whatever you have! Short, long, fragments. WHATEVER. Your part is just one part of what I’m hoping will be an outpouring of love—fill the bucket word by word. Don’t worry about it being well written or perfect. They just want to know Mark was loved. The only way to make a misstep is to miss this opportunity to share with them something they can hold on to. (If you are unsure just reach out to Karen and we can talk it through.) Several people have drafted something and then asked for feedback. That’s fine too! Just please add your thoughts to the mix.
Please email Karen Haitoff your favorite memory/stories by September 1 so she can put this together for them. Kasci@aol.com
Thanks to everyone who came out on Sunday to run the Mountain Lakes 15k and share stories about Mark. I know he was there with us on the trails and probably enjoyed all the many inventive ways you found to interpret the map.
