Urban Environmental Challenge, 5k & 10k, Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, NY
Saturday April 1st, 10:00 a.m. start time. The Urban Environmental Challenge is the first true trail race in the five boroughs! Prepare for a rugged, technical trail race in historic Van Cortlandt Park in the heart of the Bronx.
Choose Your Distance: A 10k or 5k option is available for runners. $35 pre-registration, $40 race day. Race day registration 8:30-9:30 only. Special price for 5k runners under 18 and 10k runners 14-18 (10k minimum age is 14) Life-time VCTC members, please email uec@vctc.org or vctconline@gmail.com for the discount code. A portion of your race fees goes to support the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance for trail maintenance and youth programs. All registered participants will receive a race souvenir.

John Jay Trail Race, 5k
The John Jay Community 5k Trail Race (http://jjtrail.org) is a competitive community race on the new John Jay Community Cross Country Trail. The course starts on the lower fields of the John Jay Campus and quickly goes into the wooded trails adjacent to the middle school and high school. It ends on the John Jay Contest Track & Field next to Route 121. The trails are challenging and hilly in the woods.
The John Jay 4k Trail Walk is a non-competitive walk through the main parts of the John Jay Community Trail. The walkers will start after the 5k runners are in the woods. Most of the trail is the same except for approximately 1k of the southern hill loop that is skipped by the walkers.
Both courses end at the John Jay Contest Field.

Breakneck Point Trail Run, 25k, 42k, Beacon, NY
Hosted by Red Newt Racing.
The course may also be one of the most difficult trail half or full marathons that you will ever complete. There are technical and steep pitches including the signature Breakneck Point that at points require climbing and tolerance of exposure, technical stretches of footing, and significant elevation gain and loss. The risk associated with this terrain is significant and only those seasoned and prepared for this terrain should join the entrant pool.

Bowdoin Bushwhack, 5 miles, Wappingers Falls, NY
Ramble through the brambles of beautiful Bowdoin Park. Uphills, downhills, grass, rocks, trails- we have it all. If we could run you through the Hudson, we would, but that would be overkill. For more race information and course description, please go to the EVENTS PAGE and COURSE MAP.
We also trying to help out some of our fellow humans as we journey through life on this crazy rock. Keep It Moving is working to help the youngin’s of our world to stay focused and realize just how precious life really is. For more info, look here, and to donate go to our DONATION PAGE. Also, on the day of the race, we will be collecting items for the St. Mary’s Food Pantry. It’s a local food pantry that helps out our neighbors that may need it. You never know when you may need help.

Forgotten Forest 9-Hour Trail Running
Neatly nestled away, Roosevelt Forest will be brought to life with the running of the third Forgotten Forest Ultra Run! The Ultra run will last 9 hours from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. All Racers, Runners, Joggers, Hikers and Walkers are invited to participate in this very friendly event. Do as many miles or hours, as you wish. Experience on a trail is mandatory for safety, so a little practice is warranted. Learn more ››

Macedonia Trail Race, 7.25 Mile, Kent, CT
Hosted by Steep Endurance. 7.25 mile challenge on the tough single track of Macedonia Brook State Park with some amazing viewpoints. The course has over 1700′ of elevation, making it one of the toughest races around this distance in the Northeast.

Steep Rock, 10K, Washington, CT
Hosted by Steep Endurance. In the first race of the Steep Rock Trail Series, the Steep Rock 10K, runners will get to experience the largest of the three preserves, with its amazing mix of single track, rail trails, and technical trails on the east side of the Shepaug River. The 10K will also include a trip through the iconic Steep Rock Tunnel. Note that this date conflicts with the Sarah Bishop Bushwhack.

Water Gap 50K, Milford, PA
Hosted by Red Newt Racing. Milford Beach State Park sits just outside of the great scenic small town of Milford, PA. With quaint local shops, dining, and theater Milford is a destination in and of itself. The Beach Park hosts the terminus of the McDade Trail, offering ample parking, a great pavilion, proximity to the town of Milford, and situated on a beautiful smooth running stretch of the Delaware River.

The Cat’s Tail Marathon, Phoenicia, NY
Red Newt Racing. This is a semi self-supported event with only 2 real points of aid and a couple of water drops. Runners will be required to carry certain supplies throughout the run to ensure their safety in this remote area. The Cat’s Tail is not meant to be someones “first” marathon or trail race.

Mohawk Mountain Race, 10K/5K, Cornwall, CT
Hosted by Steep Endurance. 10K/5K events starting/finishing at the Mohawk Mountain Ski Area. Runners will ascend to the top of the mountain twice with the 5K race. 10K runners will do two loops. Each 5K loop yields over 1300′ each in vertical climbing and descending! On the same day as this event, the mountain will be having their Fall Festival with a food truck festival, a craft fair, and many more things to do. It’s sure to be a fun event for every member of the family whether they are running or not.

Bimblers Bluff 50K, Guilford, CT
The Bimblers Bluff 50k is an off road foot race through several inter-connected woodland preserves in southern Connecticut. Consisting entirely of rolling forest roads or single track that can be extremely rocky, the course will provide a true test of the runner’s fitness and mental stamina. You should only consider entering this race if you are confident you have sufficient running experience such as having completed a recent road or trail marathon. Note that this date conflicts with Run the Farm.

Hidden Valley 15K: 15K, Washington, CT
Hosted by Steep Endurance. In the second race of the Steep Rock Trail Series, the Hidden Valley 15K, runners will get to experience the beauty of the Shepaug River, lookout summits of the valley below, the quartz mine, and the iconic Thoreau Bridge at the entrance to the park. The 15K course is more rolling in nature than the Steep Rock 10K, but still has it’s challenges with plenty of single track and a few short steep climbs to lookout points.

Pocantico Hills Marathon and Half Marathon
This challenging and beautiful course begins and ends at the Rockwood Hall portion of the park overlooking the Hudson River and the Palisades. This is just off Rte 9 in Sleepy Hollow, next to Phelps Hospital. Both the half marathon and marathon are single loop courses almost entirely on wide groomed carriage roads, and the marathon visits just about all of the signature aspects of the Park Preserve with a ton of scenic views.

Conquer the Forest Trail Run
“Conquer the Forest” Trail Run participants will start by running through Green Chimneys’ Clearpool Campus and quickly merge onto wooded trails that meander through a remarkable forest landscape. The 5K course has just about every type of terrain anyone could want in a race: long gradual slopes, lakeside trails, undulating hilltops, remote meadows, technical rocky trails, and open fields. While there are some challenging sections, it’s a safe and enjoyable course suitable for many levels.

Tarrywile Half Marathon
The Tarrywile Half Marathon, just might be one of the toughest trail half marathons you will ever run. Not only does it have a lot of elevation (close to 3K), a good portion of the terrain is fairly technical Northeast single track. The course offers some amazing viewpoints of Danbury as well as the tranquil lakes in the park. NEW this year will be the MARATHON distance for those of you that want even more of a challenge! Come check it out for yourself!

Castle to River 50k, Garrison, NY
Salomon New York Trail Series. Tucked just north of Anthony’s Nose and the Bear Mountain Bridge, the Castle Rock Unique area hosts this challenging 50k trail race. Consisting of loops, you’ll climb nearly 700 feet to the ridge where you’ll circle the Castle Rock mansion and head back down to the Hudson river. Along the river, you’ll follow Benedict Arnold’s escape route when he evaded capture from George Washington’s army.

Hosted by Steep Endurance. In the third race of the Steep Rock Trail Series, the Steep Rock Half Marathon, runners will get to experience the largest of the three preserves, with its amazing mix of single track, rail trails, technical trails, the iconic Steep Rock Tunnel, a trip to the Steep Rock Summit, and three river crossings of the Shepaug River. With nearly 2000’ of climbing and descending, it will be one of the most challenging, yet beautiful half marathons you will have ever run!
