On Saturday, April 15, at 6:00 a.m., meet at Ramapo-Dunderberg Timp Torne Trailhead, Tomkins Cove, NY, ready to run some epic trails at Harriman State Park. Based on responses, this group is focused on the 7 summits but the 5 sisters is an option if you decide the shorter distance is a better fit.
Option 1, the Seven Summits. Tackle seven summits around Harriman State Park including an excursion over the Bear Mountain Bridge (twice) to hit Anthony’s Nose. This is a challenging 25.6 mile self-supported fat-ass run with 7,220 feet of gain, so be prepared.
Option 2, the Five Sisters. This is a 14-mile loop with 3,000 feet of vertical gain that tackles five of the summits within Harriman. Compared to the above, this seems easy but believe me, it’s an aggressive course to tackle.
Option 3, Four Summits. I’ve mentioned this to several of you interested in running the 7 summits but are concerned about the distance. Meet at Bear Mount State Park Parking Lot (near the Ice Rink) no later than 5:45 a.m. We will set up an aid station at one of the cars left there since we pass by at mile 15. If you know you only want to run this distance, your car will be waiting for you. If someone in the group that expects to run longer decides to stop, you can get a ride back to your car at the start of the run.
Logistics: If someone wants to help with logistics by bringing snacks, water, Coke,
