December 24, 25, and 26

This Saturday, December 24, at 8:00 a.m, meet at the Lewisboro Town Park upper parking lot (see map) when we run a special Hanukkah/Christmas Eve course. This course involves the new Mill Site trail, returns via a new Town Park trail, and offers a variety of distances. Looks like fun, right? Those looking to start early can arrive at 7:00 a.m. for a few extra miles.

This Sunday,  December 25, at 8:00 a.m., meet at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Michigan Road lot when we run trails appropriate for the day—the Red and Green Loop. Head south on the Red/Green trail making a loop that includes the Red trail, the Green trail and a few other trails as well. Not sure how many will show up but bring your own maps today. See the map page here ›› Those looking to get a few extra miles in can meet early for a 7:00 a.m. start.

On Monday, December 26, at 7:45 a.m., meet at the Hessian Lake Parking Lot at Bear Mountain (near the ice rink) and run a 9-mile out-and-loop course which contains some of the trails in the North Face Endurace Challenge. The park starts charging at 8:00 a.m. for entry so get there before that. Anyone who wants to ride share can meet at the Katonah Woods bridge lot and leave at 7:00 a.m.

Hope to see you out there this weekend.

Last week’s runners at the Trailside Museum didn’t let a little rain and snow stop them. And a big happy birthday to runner Joe Cloidt who advances an age group this week.

On Sunday, March 27, at 8:00 a.m., meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Michigan Road lot and run some of the southern trails on the Red/Rock loop. We haven’t seen the Rock Trail since Fall so this is a chance to enjoy some of the more challenging trails in the park. Options include loops of 5, 6, and 7 miles (your mileage may vary). Those looking to do some extra miles can arrive at 7:00 a.m. for a 3 to 4 mile loop. See the map here ››

On Saturday, March 26, at 8:00 a.m., meet at the north end of the Harriman State Park Anthony Wayne parking lot when we run some of the trails at Bear Mountain. Groups can run from here to the NFEC finish and then back for a 14-mile run and anyone who wants to extend the run can head out on some of the NFEC course after a stop at the cars. Those coming up from the area can meet at the Katonah Woodsbridge parking lot at 7:00 a.m. and either caravan or carpool up. I’ve posted some very useful files for anyone interested in this run. You’re welcome.

December 27, Lewisboro Town Park

This Sunday, December 27, at 8:00 a.m., meet at the Lewisboro Town Park upper lot when we run a new variation of our annual Fat Ass run which will take us from the Town Park to the Overlook. This is the perfect antidote to the holiday sluggishness for sure. You’ll start up the Town Park Hill, climb Fox Hill, and make a third climb to the Overlook. Don’t worry, it’s not all uphill—there are some nice downhills in the Pine Forest and CB trails. If you’re not up for the full 7.8 miles, there are options for shorter distances as well. Those looking to start early can arrive at 7:00 a.m. for a short loop.

On Saturday, December 26, at 7:45 a.m., Kevin Rader will lead a 9 mile run at Bear mountain. Meet at 7:45 a.m. at the north end of the Hessian Lake Parking Lot, near the ice rink. Anyone looking to ride share can meet at the Woods Bridge commuter lot in Katonah at 7:00 a.m. Check out the map page here ››

On Thursday, December 24, at 8:30 a.m., meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Meadow Lot and run the Leatherman’s Dry Loop. Sure, we’re a month away from the Looper Bowl but you might as well check out the trails. And with the warm temperatures, you might even consider the water crossings and mud flats of the actual course (though the mud flats are likely overgrown with buckthorn and the field before the last water crossing is unmowed and tick-infested).

And don’t forget about our event on January 16—The Trail Mix Awards Ceremony and Post-Holiday Party.

Hope to see you out there this weekend.
