This Sunday, August 14, at 8:00 a.m., meet at the Nature Conservancy Butler Sanctuary on Chestnut Ridge Road in Mt. Kisco (see in Google maps) when we run a combination of trails covering most of the park. Since Butler is a relatively small preserve, we’ll be following a double loop course to get close to 5 miles. Don’t worry, you’ll still get a workout since the terrain has a lot of ups and downs. Plus anyone interested in a longer run can head over to Westmoreland afterwards for a few more miles. Meet in the Butler parking lot. See the map here ››
Looking to start early? Arrive at 7:00 a.m. for a pre-run loop.

Saturday, August 13, 8:00 a.m.
For anyone looking for a Saturday run, meet in the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation at the Michigan Road parking lot and run the Michigan to Kimberly 6 mile loop.

Don’t forget to register for the Trail Mix Races this fall including the Sarah Bishop Bushwhack on September 25. And if you’re looking for something a little different this weekend, there’s the Taconic Road Runners/Peekskill Brewery Mile on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Limited to 100 entrants only.

With 1300 feet of elevation gain, I’m glad everyone liked the hills last week.

This Sunday, December 20, at 8:00 a.m., meet at Ward Pound Ridge Meadow lot when we run a new course—the Rock Trail 8 Mile Loop. We’ll head south through the meadow trails and return via FH. In between we’re going to see the Bear Rock Petroglyph, Spy Rock, the Stairs, Castle Rock, Raven Rocks, Indian Rock Shelter, and plenty more rocks along the way. If you’re looking for something less ambitious, there’s a 5.5 mile loop as well. Those looking to start early can arrive at 7:00 a.m. for a short loop.

And don’t forget about our event on January 16—The Trail Mix Awards Ceremony and Post-Holiday Party.

A Special Note from Gerry and Eamonn Sullivan

Dear everyone,

Once again everyone has displayed a heart of gold toward Eamonn. His desire to succeed is shadowed only by his love of running and you guys have helped that love to grow with your support of his nationals trips. His desire for a real “cross country” course at nationals as can only be created by the Leathermans Harriers may never be realized, but he will always be proud to represent the true trail runners on the tame courses of the Junior Olympics. I thank you for being there for him as you always have.

Peace,

Gerry

And from Eamonn:

Dear Leatherman Harriers,

I would like to say that I am extremely thankful for all the support that you have given me. You have made it clear that you are happy I like to run and that you care. Thank you for all of your contributions.

Sincerely,

Eamonn Sullivan
P.S. Leatherman Harriers is the only real running group.

Hope to see you out there this weekend.

Meet at 7:30 a.m. at the north end of the Hessian Lake Parking Lot, near the ice rink. Anyone looking to ride share can meet at the Woods Bridge commuter lot in Katonah at 6:50 a.m. Check out the map page here ››

This Sunday, April 5, at 8:00 a.m., meet at the Zofnass Family Preserve on Upper Shad Road in Pound Ridge (see Google Map) when we run everyone’s favorite labyrinthian preserve with a network of trails noted for its crags and rock outcrops. Meet at the main entrance and follow a perimeter loop making all right turns except for exiting the park (you may want to bring a map since I won’t be there this weekend). Those looking to start early can arrive at 7:00 which should give you enough time to run the Southern and Central Roundabout loops.

Next week we’ll be back at the Ward Pound Ridge Meadow parking lot when we run the official course check for the Leatherman’s Loop. If you’re planning on running the race, you won’t want to miss this.

Just three weeks before the Leatherman’s Loop. Hope to see you out there this weekend.

March 29, Meadow Parking Lot

On Sunday, March 29, at 8:00 a.m., meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Meadow Parking Lot when we run the Meadow Dry Loop. This approximately six-mile course follows much of the Leatherman’s Loop but nixes the water crossings and mud flats. What’s left? Still a challenging and fun run and while I call this the “dry loop,” I can’t guarantee you will finish the run with your feet dry. The warm temperatures and rain have signaled the end of ice and snow and the beginning of mud and water. Those looking to do some extra miles can arrive at 7:00 for a 3 to 4 mile loop.

And don’t miss our Saturday dinner at Jewel of Himalaya. Just let us know if you’re coming by Friday night so we can get a head count.

Just four weeks before the Leatherman’s Loop. Time to get out there and train. Hope to see you out there this weekend.

March 22, Michigan Road

On Sunday, March 22, at 8:00 a.m., meet at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Michigan Road lot and run some of the southern trails on the Red/Rock loop. I know we’ve run the Red, Green, and Yellow trails recently and those are generally in good shape—hard packed and stable. The snow melted enough that the trails to the Overlook, while still snow-covered, are at least passable. The southern portion of the Rock Trail, though, is free of snow in many places and a great run if you’re up for the hills. I know we’re expecting more snow on Friday/Saturday but we’ll still meet as planned and evaluate conditions at that time. Those looking to do some extra miles can arrive at 7:00 for a 3 to 4 mile loop.

Just five weeks before the Leatherman’s Loop.

Hope to see you out there this weekend.
